If you plan to become a PADI Divemaster or are looking to become a PADI Instructor, we have created an internship program that will give you the knowledge and the practical experience required to become a PADI diving professional. The program is structured to ensure you get hands on experience with all aspects of diving - from leading fun divers on our scheduled trips and assisting Instructors during their courses to operating the compressor and maintaining dive gear. There is no better, more cost effective way to become a great diver and no better way to enjoy the Roatan island lifestyle!
Before you decide on an internship program you need to know the difference between becoming a Divemaster or an Instructor. There is a list of duties and responsibilities on the PADI website (click the links above to view) but essentially Divemasters are responsible for leading dive trips and conducting courses for certified divers where as PADI Instructors are teaching new divers and professional courses such as Rescue Diver and Divemaster.
Our program lengths are flexible and structured to help you not only get the certification but the hands on experience needed in order to be employed. All of our internships include underwater naturalist, enriched air nitrox and the PADI Project Aware coral reef conservation specialty courses. These courses are custom tailored to our waters here on Roatan and are designed to make you highly knowledgeable of the reef's ecosystem. During the internship you will also be involved in the day to day activities of the dive center, including filling tanks, selling diving retail and scuba equipment maintenance and repair.
The length of your program will depend on a number of factors including your current certification level, number of logged dives and dive experience. If you are looking to turn your diving hobby into a career a longer internship will be more beneficial, allowing you to gain practical work experienced as a Divemaster before seeking employment or becoming a PADI Instructor. Have a look at the Internships below and if you have any questions please contact us.
