Diving on Roatan

Our diving operations are structured to ensure that during your stay on Roatan you will be able to dive in small groups (maximum of 6 divers per divemaster) and visit a variety of dive sites here on Roatan. Our custom dive boat the "beaver fever" will transport you in comfort and safety to the best dive sites we have to offer. Roatan's reef is located very close to shore and with our dive boat most dive sites are less than 20 minutes away. We offer 3 single tank dive trips daily (9.00am, 11.30am and 2.30pm) and private two tank trips to the more exotic spots around Roatan.

The majority of the diving we do takes place in the Roatan Marine Park . This reserve encompasses over 20 km of coastline where spear fishing, anchoring and the collection of conch and lobster is prohibited and patrolled. The Roatan Marine Park is using funds gained from local tourism and grants from organizations such as USAID, CORAL and WWF to patrol this area and improve marine infrastructure as well as support the community through educational programs. All divers who dive in the reserve are required to purchase a Marine Park pass, a one time fee of $10.

Roatan's Dive Sites

Ocean Connections is ideally situated inside the fringing coral reef that skirts the length of West Bay village. From our beach you can easily see the Roatan Marine Park reefs’ formation. Turtle grass and sandy shallows lead to waves gently breaking on the reef crest, beyond which the reef drops off into the deep blue of the Cayman Trench. With just a five minute boat ride you can be diving on one of our spectacular reef walls, vibrant with coral and tropical fish life.

Roatan's dive sites offer something for every diver, from steep walls and shipwrecks to lagoons and docks excellent for macro photography. If big fish are your thing than drift dives off the tip of West End are a must. Roatan also has dolphin and shark encounters, both which can be arranged for you at the dive shop (click here for more info on the shark dive or the dolphin dive.
