West Bay Beach, Roatan

West Bay is located on the western tip of Roatan and is just a few minutes walk from our dive center. This beautiful white sandy beach is perfect for sunbathing and snorkeling and also home base to many other activities including sailing, kayaking, jet-ski rentals, canopy tours and para-sailing. The dive site "Mandy's Eel Garden is just a short swim from the beach and there you will find an abundance of reef fish and both hard and soft corals.

There are many bars and restaurants right on the beach and for those who like to go out in the evenings West End is a short taxi or scooter ride away.

	Coral Reef Explorer semi-submersible glass bottom boat allows visitors to see the splendor of the reef without getting wet!
	Roatan's Deep Diving Submersible "Idabel", designed and built by Karl Stanley, is the most exciting shore excursion you will find on Roatan. Idabel will take you further into the Western Caribbean's vibrant depths than most people will ever go-- depths up to 2,500 feet in his well-lit undersea vehicle. The large plexiglas viewing bubble allows you to observe rare variety of underwater life never seen by most people. The Idabel "Yellow Submarine" docks in Half Moon Bay in West End Village.
	Roatan has four zip line canopy tours: South Shore Canopy Tour and Gumbalimba Park which are both located in West Bay as well as pirates of the Caribbean canopy tours located in palmetto bay and french harbor.
	The Butterfly Garden in West End and the Carambola Botanical Gardens in Sandy Bay have a large selection of local flora and fauna as well as exotic butterflies and birds. They also carry a large selection of tropical plant seeds, coffee and fruit jams that make great gifts.
	Bay Island Airways - offers packaged island tours, real estate tours or you can charter your own flight.
	Horseback Riding - Shirkie's ranch in West End offers tours of West End on horseback with native islander guides.
	Anthony's Key in Sandy Bay is home to the Marine Institute and Dolphin research center where you can enjoy a dolphin show or even dive and snorkel with the dolphins in their habitat. The dolphins are not captive and are free to come and go as they please making a visit here a unique experience.
